  • Justice Department demands Google sell off Chrome in new filing

Interesting to see who would “buy” Chrome, for how much, and why. Not like it’s very good as a direct source of revenue.
As an example, you can look at Opera’s (the company) earnings reports to see how Opera (the browser) makes money for the company. But basically: Search, advertising, technology licensing.

  • Apple may be hit with a big antitrust fine in France over App Tracking Transparency

Two people with knowledge of the regulator's plans told Reuters on Thursday that a ruling will be arriving in March. "The decision is expected in the spring," the regulator confirmed, but declined to comment further.

The link to the Reuters article is broken (the URL got cutoff). I believe this URL below is to the article you intended to link to:

  • iPhone 16e review roundup: an okay, if compromised, device without a market

    charlesn said:
When Apple reports earnings in July for the quarter that ends on June 30, that will mark the first full quarter of 16e sales concluding with the busy graduation season and we should get a much better idea at that time from Apple of how the 16e is faring.
We will get some idea about how well the iPhone 16e is doing from the earnings report, but not as much information as you might want. Apple typically keeps that information close to the vest. (Apple stopped reporting specific units sold a number of years ago.)

Apple will report about the sales and revenue of the iPhone category overall and give a little information about how specific geographic regions are doing for the iPhone category. But Apple (almost certainly) won’t break-out how many iPhone 16e units were sold.

If the iPhone 16e is massive success, Apple won’t tell us the exact number of units sold. And if the iPhone 16e is a spectacular failure, Apple won’t tell us the exact number of units sold. And if the iPhone 16e is somewhere in between a massive success or spectacular failure… well, you get the point, lol.

We can get an idea of how well the iPhone 16e is selling from channel checks (financial analysts contacting parts suppliers, 3rd party retailers and such). Anytime you hear (for example) about how the iPhone 16 Plus is not selling very well, you are probably learning about that from analysts’ channel checks.

  • These are the best iPhone 16e cases that add MagSafe back

Keep in mind that the cases will allow you to use a MagSafe charger, but you're still going to be charging at 7.5 watts, not at 25 watts as you would if the phone actually had MagSafe built in.
15 watts is the MagSafe cap.
15w is the MagSafe max for iPhone 12/13/14/15. But for the iPhone 16/Plus/Pro/Pro Max models, those phones can charge up to 25w with MagSafe (if using the 2024 Apple MagSafe Charger and a 30w or higher power adapter).

  • There's not a big rush to buy the iPhone 16e yet

Meanwhile iPhone 16 refurbs out of stock
Do you mean on Apple.com? Refurbished iPhone 16 models sold directly from the Apple.com Apple Store? If so:

Apple hasn’t yet released any iPhone 16 as refurbished on the US Apple Store website. I don’t know about the iPhone 16 refurbished stock of Apple Stores in other countries (except the Japanese Apple Store), but it hasn’t yet happened in America. So it’s not out of stock. It’s just never been in stock (yet).

Apple also hasn’t yet made available any refurbished iPhone 15 models on the US Apple Store website. Apple made available refurbished iPhone 15/Plus/Pro/Max models in a few European countries for the first time a few weeks ago (January 2025). But the refurbished iPhone 15 models haven’t yet been made available on the US Apple.com Apple Store either.
