Apple's VR headset: What to expect and what it will look like
The Quest 2 has demonstrated that you don't need transparent lenses for excellent AR capability. The Quest has relatively low quality cameras and the resulting video is fuzzy and black and white. However it still gives you stereo real time vision when you need it. Since the Quest is untethered (like the Apple headset as pictured) you can walk around your home in AR mode without bumping into anything or use the AR mode to place your hands on your keyboard. It is startling how good the AR mode is given that it was a feature Meta added after the headset was released. It is likely that the next generation Quest will have high resolution color cameras giving the viewer near perfect vision in AR.
This is a long way of saying that if the design is as shown, Apple can still market the headset as having both AR and VR. -

The least surprising news of 2021: Facebook voted the worst company in America
Facebook wants everyone to use its platform to connect with each other and share what is happening in their lives and discuss things with their family, friends and acquaintances. Unfortunately it is totally failing in that mission as it now censors any kind of discussion, fact based or otherwise if it happens to include certain key words like "virus". Let's say you post something recommending your friends get vaccinated and a link to a news story about the subject. Facebook will only allow a very small number of your friends to see that post (perhaps two or three). They must be people who have posted comments with the same keywords and who you have replied to recently. No one else will see your post even if you have a hundred friends. This is obviously Facebook's knee jerk reaction to government scrutiny for their responsibility for the large number of people refusing to be vaccinated and the many riots last year around the world created on their platform. Facebook would like it very much if everyone would stop talking about important subjects and just post pictures of kittens. -
Tested: MagSafe charging speed versus Qi, USB-C, and USB-A
Don't bother with any wireless charging that are not magsafe. All the ones I tested overheated the iPhone, Apple Watch or AirPods I placed on the device. The reason is that the charging coils are not perfectly aligned. This may not sound serious but I destroyed one iPhone X and had to swap the battery in the refurbished one Apple sent me about a year later. Eventually the overheating causes the battery to swell up and pops out the screen. Even my AirPods wireless charging case feels warm when I pick it up quite often. There seems to be nothing in the wireless charging to prevent overheating from happening. However all the magsafe chargers I have used with the iPhone 13 Plus have worked perfectly. It never overheats. Unfortunately the first generation Apple watch chargers have the same problem. It sticks to them magnetically but is not held in exactly the right position so it too can overheat.
